Melissa M. Williams, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
Melissa is the owner of The Heriford House and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a wealth of experience working with children through college age and well into adulthood. Melissa has worked as an individual and family therapist with Counseling Associates since 2012.
She began working for the State of Missouri as a Regional Family Specialist for the Division of Youth Services. She worked with youth that committed crimes and were working to be rehabilitated into the community.
She went on to begin private practice with Counseling Associates in 2012 where she continues to provide individual, family, and marital therapy. She primarily works with families, young adults, and couples. She uses several models of therapies to include Multisystemic Family Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for issues such as depression, anxiety, survivors of childhood abuse/sexual abuse, grief/loss, family of origin issues, divorce, parenting, relationship issues, and spiritual issues.
She is a registered Mediator for Boone and Callaway County.
Brittany Evans, CIT (Counselor in Training)
Brittany is an associate of The Heriford House who is under the direct supervision of Melissa M. Williams, LPC. She is a recent graduate which may speak to a lack of experience to some but for her it just means her knowledge base is fresh. Despite the fact that she is a new graduate, she has a plethora of experience working with children and families. She has spent many years working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. Brittany has experience working with children as young as preschool aged, with challenging behaviors in the home, in the community and in the classroom. She also has experience working with teenage boys in the DYS/Juvenile Justice System creating goals and treatment plans for them to complete and return home to their families. Brittany is solution focused and uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy treatment approaches most often.
During her internship she gained experience helping married couples navigate their marriage struggles and restore their marriage, experience helping children with divorcing parents to adjust to their changing home life, coached parents on their journey to co-parent successfully and worked with individuals from all walks of life as they strive to grow on their journey.
Franchot (Frenchie) Walker, CIT (Counselor in Training)
Frenchie is an associate with The Heriford House who is under the direct supervision of Melissa M. Williams, LPC. He is a recent graduate of the Masters in Counseling program at the University of Missouri. He has experience working in a therapeutic relationships with children in the community with problems at home and in school through the Presbyterian Children Homes and Services. He works to help them learn how to take responsibility for their actions and think of better ways to address situations that they have previously handled poorly.
He has also spent time working with adults ranging from 18 -55 in a counseling setting. The focus of his sessions where on finding a career path. He has helped individuals figure out what career paths they wanted to pursue based on their values and goals. These individual also worked on other client issues that affect both their personal lives and their career choices. He uses different model but tends to be Person Centered and uses Acceptant and Commitment Therapy approaches most often.
