Melissa M. Williams, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
Melissa is the owner of The Heriford House and is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a wealth of experience working with children through college age and well into adulthood. Melissa has worked as an individual and family therapist with Counseling Associates since 2012.
She began working for the State of Missouri as a Regional Family Specialist for the Division of Youth Services. She worked with youth that committed crimes and were working to be rehabilitated into the community.
She went on to begin private practice with Counseling Associates in 2012 where she continues to provide individual, family, and marital therapy. She primarily works with families, young adults, and couples. She uses several models of therapies to include Multisystemic Family Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for issues such as depression, anxiety, survivors of childhood abuse/sexual abuse, grief/loss, family of origin issues, divorce, parenting, relationship issues, and spiritual issues.
She is a registered Mediator for Boone and Callaway County.
Brittany Evans, PLPC
Brittany is an associate of The Heriford House who is under the direct supervision of Melissa M. Williams, LPC. She is a recent graduate which may speak to a lack of experience to some but for her it just means her knowledge base is fresh. Despite the fact that she is a new graduate, she has a plethora of experience working with children and families. She has spent many years working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. Brittany has experience working with children as young as preschool aged, with challenging behaviors in the home, in the community and in the classroom. She also has experience working with teenage boys in the DYS/Juvenile Justice System creating goals and treatment plans for them to complete and return home to their families. Brittany is solution focused and uses Cognitive Behavior Therapy treatment approaches most often.
During her internship she gained experience helping married couples navigate their marriage struggles and restore their marriage, experience helping children with divorcing parents to adjust to their changing home life, coached parents on their journey to co-parent successfully and worked with individuals from all walks of life as they strive to grow on their journey.
Sunitha Bosecker, PLPC
Sunitha is an associate with The Heriford House, who is under the direct supervision of Melissa M. Williams, LPC. Sunitha graduated with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling at Stephens College and working towards provisional licensure.
Sunitha has been seeing clients since January of 2019, where she worked with college-aged students at the Stephens College Counseling Center. Sunitha has experience working with college-aged students struggling with anxiety, depression, career exploration, trauma, and parent relationships. As of August of 2019, Sunitha has been at the Heriford House. Sunitha strives to create a safe, comfortable space where clients are allowed to explore emotions and express vulnerability. She primarily uses person-centered, interpersonal therapy but also incorporates mindfulness, solution-focused, and ACT.
Sunitha has experience working with clients from 13 to 65-years-old. The sliding scale is also available.
Tasca Tolson comes to us from Stephens College as an intern. Tasca will be with us for a year doing two interns. Tasca comes to us with a wealth of information and skills. Tasca specializes in anger management but also likes to work with individuals and couples. Tasca has a background in working with troubled youth through the division of youth services.
Tasca has completed all of her coursework and will graduate with a Masters in Education in counseling when she finishes her internship with the Heriford House.
Joey Brooks, CIT (not pictured)
Welcome our newest team member to the Heriford House!
Joey is due to graduate from Stephens College with a Masters in Education in Counseling May 2020. We are so excited to have Joey join our group as he provides a much needed male perspective to us. Joey enjoys working with individual of all ages. Joey is very much an intellectual and gets excited to get trainings. Joey is scheduled to get training in EMDR (for trauma) and in couples therapy. We look forward to getting Joey set up with you.
